ITALIAN AND ENGLISH VERSIONS

Quel piccione, posatosi sul davanzale della finestra, sembra conoscermi mentre scruta quello che succede nel cortile.

Si è stabilito a casa nostra da una settimana e si fa prendere con le mani. Mi chiedo se sia un piccione addestrato e se sia venuto per portare buone notizie.

Di sicuro ci fa piacere averlo nella famiglia e di sicuro finora ha portato bene: le vigne sono bellissime, la stagione ci ha regalato abbondanti piogge ed ora splende il sole. Ci stiamo preparando già per la nuova vendemmia. Si destinano le parcelle migliori per le operazioni più laboriose di gestione del verde e si organizza la cantina per le nuove vinificazioni. Anche quest’anno ci sono nuove idee sia in vigna che in cantina!

Oltre al team formato da Mathieu, Davide, Michele, Luca, Alvaro ed Alberto, ci sarà un ospite straniero, Patrick, a darci manforte.

Abbiamo appena piantato delle giovani viti di Petit Verdot che dimorano ora nel Campo Vecchio, su terreno caratterizzato dalla favorevole presenza di frammenti di grafite.

A San Cristoforo il Petit Verdot sta bene, lo testimoniano un paio di articoli usciti di recente, uno dei quali in lingua francese e inglese, di Yoel Abarbanel e l'altro in italiano con un bel commento di Giuseppe Vaccarini, miglior sommelier del mondo nel 1978.


ENGLISH VERSION

The pigeon placed on the windowsill seemed to already know me while he observed what was happening in the courtyard.

He established himself at our house last week and he can be easily caught with our hands. I wonder if he is a trained pigeon and if he came to bring us good news.

We are very happy to have him in the family and for sure, until now, it has seemed as though he has brought us good luck: the vines look great, the season has given us abundant rain and now the sun is shining. We are already preparing for the new vintage. We set aside the best lots for the hard labour operations of green management, and have organized the wine cellar for the new vinification. Also this year there are exciting new ideas both in the vineyard and in the wine cellar!

Besides the team formed by Mathieu, David, Michael, Luca, Alvaro and Alberto, we have welcomed a foreign worker, Patrick, that will give us support during the harvest.

We also have just finished planting some young vines of Petit Verdot in the Campo Vecchio Vineyard in a soil that is characterized by the favourable presence of small pieces of graphite.

The Petit Verdot seems to be working well in San Cristoforo, it is proven by a couple of fresh articles, one in French/English written by Yoel Abarbanel, and the other in Italian with a beautiful comment from Giuseppe Vaccarini, world's best sommelier in 1978.
